Has anyone know the meaning of the trope "So Beautiful, It's A Curse"? Well, here's this...my sister, Anti-Twili, studied that trope from both "Thumbelina", "The Hunchback Of Notre-Dame", "Me, Myself & Irene", "Legally Blonde" and even that episode from "The America Dad" called "Shallow Vows", so she made a joke for both the scientific/specific theory and the sake of comedy rather than a insult. Same way she did make a 'ugly chick' joke about Kristen Kringle from the TV-show "Gotham".

Anti-Twili doesn't seem to give a hood about Midna, though. But she's more concern about Ilia and Zelda, and when she play the game six times she find how shallow and bigoted it was and that manga based on it is even more shallow and bigoted. It's pretty clear that during the Twilight Era these two have met their misfortune due to fact they're primarily targets (regardless that one of them isn't a Triforce-bearer or even a princess) to evil forces, each one is being isolated from the rest of the world, miserable/depressed and alone with psychos who became obsessed with them. It's because of their superior beauty that only matches three things which the villains always believe to be most common...'1' being delicate young females, '2' being most innocent and easiest victims and '3' being alone without help...that would have been a cue to being "Too Good For This Sinful World" and they would have be ashamed of being so they could have immediately committed suicide rather than continuing living to be treated only as pieces of an ass, eye candies--grade 'A' top-choice meat, if you will--and possibly trophies/toys by their captors if not been rescued right away nor could they ever escape on them own. So she thought that what if both Ilia and Zelda are being the opposite of 'beautiful' in physical appearances, maybe things would worked out differently for them, although their merits and personalities remain unchanged, in the words...unlike Kristen Kringle, they're not 'abusive-boyfriend' masochists with lower self-esteem, in fact each one is more a "Single Woman Seek Good Men". Trust me, unlike Midna respectively (though her imp-form wasn't uglier enough) and Princess Parapet from "The Nutcracker Prince" who are are actually enjoyed being beautiful until they cursed to be ugly, Ilia and Zelda born ugly on the outside that barely matched what's inside and they have no complaints about how they looked as long their outer ugliness gives them both a better advantage whereas their beauty did nothing but attracting unwanted attention and getting them into trouble/danger:

-Let's start with Ilia! In the different version she really does have a family resemblance from her father Mayor Bo, as a fat heavy goofy looking young woman with the sumo skills except she had buck teeth and a uni-brow, she can take handle herself just fine in the fight. Thankfully despite her being unattractive, she still is kind and still hates animal cruelty, still well-liked and respected by her village, still treating Epona with care and still is Link's bossy friend. My point is that if Ilia is fat, heavy and dull like her father, she would have been too difficult for those filthy Bulblins so they just leave her alone and they didn't even shot a arrow at her when they still focus raiding her village else where. It's clear that is because their leader King Bulblin wouldn't notice her, he merely mistook her for either a middle-aged woman or a Big-Billy-looking boy as he pass by and he wouldn't even touch her to scratch her, though while he still kidnapping Colin and all the other kids. Serving the strongest side, my ass! King Bulblin is nothing but a bloodthirsty shallow lusting/perverted bigot just feed on fear, does not give the damn about strength and will never see the fact he is a hideous monster himself in both the inside and literally the outside, you all saw that in the manga! However, since King Bulblin leaves her right where she's standing in, Ilia doesn't know what going on beyond Ordon Village so she is unable to be anywhere else to see it and unable save the life of the Zora Prince Ralis, but guess who else actually did saved him?

-Then here's Princess Zelda! In the different version, she is actually the 'black sheep' of the Hyrule's Royal Family because while still at her 20's she's ugly, short and obnoxious that looks cross between Darla Dibble, Delores Umbridge and those two ugly step-sisters from "Cinderella" but with big glasses, freckles and braces due to spend more time in paper-work law-school student would do while having no time for the spa getting beauty treatments or looking herself in the mirror. The point is that if she's not as beautiful as a princess supposed to be, she have been a given choice indirectly by Zant for her to retreat and die so she chooses the retreat part to obligate and escape Hyrule Castle with her life instead of choosing to surrender herself and being imprisoned in the tower. Look at the bright side, she still is selfless, compassionate, wise and brave on the inside so she roams free and on the run to protect her people outside the castle walls, still is left unaffected by the Twilight's influence, plus still able to give Link useful advice and most importantly so far she was never been possessed by Ganondorf not even at the end! Also, she's the one who saved Ralis when she found him the Castle Town's streets, and then escorted him side-by-side with Link and Telma to Kakariko Village so he can be healed by Ronado the local shaman...you remember what the ghost of the recently assassinated Queen Rutella said about her son Ralis, he really was intended to directly inform Zelda about their home, Zora Domain, is been nearly razed, so he did. Earlier prior to choosing the retreat, she was fight about fight Zant wielding a sword but--besides him and his Shadow Beasts being too powerful for her and her soldiers--all he does is to tell her to scram. You asking me why Zant let her out like it was nothing...it's because both he and Ganon wouldn't notice that is Princess Zelda and will never notice her whatsoever, they merely mistook her for a pathetic-looking four-eyed brace-faced court-jester with fizzy pigtails, occasionally thick clownish make-up, puffy outrageous hot-pink clothes (imagine a crazier, dorkier version of the Classic!Zelda), when they took over Hyrule Castle they clearly thought that Hyrule has not been ruled by a single living monarch for the century and instead it's currently governed by the steward (similar to Gondor)...what a pair of dumb shits! Although while at it, Ganon's conquest of Hyrule, the infestation of the Shadow Beasts, the attempted genocide of Hyrule's residents and Zant's unhealthy obsession for Midna remain the same, and it seems that Ganon himself never actually choose ugliest people as his puppets...is that right? Meanwhile, Midna would have been much nicer at very beginning to Zelda when they first met, it's funny because since Midna--again, the only main girl who is not born ugly in appearance--have been turn into a imp through Ganon's power by Zant she thought that he turned Zelda into a imp as well, but then at midway Zelda pointed out that she was born that way...much to Midna's disappointment! When during the night Midna was severely injured from being ambushed by Zant, Zelda still can sacrificed herself to heal her exactly like in the game, except that it took place in Kakariko Village where Zelda's body was found at the graveyard and than take to the shaman's shrine where she in the safe hands, Zelda will then revived and left the village with Epona to join Link in the finale battle at Eldin Fields. Despite the fact that Zelda still is one of the three Triforce-bearers, Ganon did check on the Triforce of Power if it glows but it didn't at all so he is unable to detect Zelda even when up close as she passed him fleeing from Hryule Castle for her life, both their Triforces never glow is all because the princess is just too ugly to been sensed by them--very much like Princess Parapet was too ugly to been by all except her equally eccentric parents, their royal clock-maker and his apprentice until she's cured of the spell that made her ugly--yep, that another advantage to give the villain a slip though even such sacred artifacts like those can be too hung on the appearances to regard what's inside, he never figure out until too late in the final battle when he see her actually armed herself with the Light Arrows and fighting him side-by-side with Link. Unfortunately for Zelda, she get less respect from her subjects than Ilia gets from her fellow villagers, you remember what Rusl has said about her in the manga, the only reason why the people of her own kingdom loved and trusted her in the first place, not because she's the 'supporter of the people' it's because of her subprime majestic beauty even by the standards of the Goddess Hylia's bloodline, so that's her biggest issue that would lead her straight to the imprisonment and the demonic possession, and she hated it...you that Midna was like at the start, she despises Zelda just because Zant didn't bother to turn Zelda into a imp like he did to Midna. At the end in my sister's alternative version of "Twilight Princess", she finally gain real loyalty, trust and admiration from her subjects for being genuinely respectful, generous and helpful to them When she and Link first met (as a wolf) he did not expect the Princess of Hyrule is the ugliest woman in their time and he too mistaken her the average weird-looking court-jester, plus the Triforces of Wisdom and Courage didn't glow when they're close either, but at least Link and Zelda still helped each other valued their alliance/friendship.

Out of the respect for the Midlink/Link-X-Midna shippers. As the result at the end, Link is still doesn't want to stay in Ordon Village yet he didn't go to Hyrule Castle either...is all because both Ilia and Zelda are ugly! So instead he try to find the way to enter the Twilight Realm to see Midna again, not only because she spend more time in the adventure with him than either Ilia or Zelda could during the Twilight War and helping him saving his world in a exchange for him helping her saving her world, it's also because she is actually beautiful since she regains her true form after Link defeated Ganondorf being the source of the curse that kept her in the imp form. In other words, Link is shallow if you think that's the case. Don't worry, Ilia and Zelda don't need to be physically beautiful when they're perfectly happy of what they have/got in themselves and so they will find somebody who could love them just for they are and not their looks. So, what do you think of this?

Sorry for being this rude, though...but it's neither my fault nor Anti-Twili's fault that the fact most people--including the Nintendo producers themselves--didn't bother to literally portraying 'Ganon's Puppet Zelda' as a trashy greasy cannibalistic hideous monster that dresses in dirty rags and vomits a black toxic waste, which is a complete opposite to the 'Normal Zelda'.
